Vacation Pictures - Part 1
Peter and I took off August 1st for friends Todd and Christy's wedding in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. We followed this with a flight to Baltimore on the 4th, where we picked up a rental car and then drove (via Syracuse, NY, which I would not recommend to anyone for any reason as a place to stop) to Ottawa to visit Mike and Lara.

And, of course, to expose Peter to More of Canada.
(he looks good in Canada, doesn't he?)

We started with a canoe adventure on the Rideau River during which we were rained on solidly, and had to take shelter under a dock from the water and lightning.

I think I'm smiling in this picture because it was the first time in a week when I wasn't too hot.

On Friday, August 9th we drove to Montreal and had a lovely dinner of lamb and rice at an Afghan restaurant hidden in the profusion of other dining establishments on the Plateau. Look how well-fed and contented we are!

Mike and Lara left us in Montreal that evening (Mike had a previous engagement with his armor) while we stayed two nights in a tasty Bed and Breakfast, touring a few of the sites available to the visitor in that culture-rich city. Maybe that deserves its own post sometime later, and make sure to come back for my eventual love letter to Maple Syrup.
